Snorkel
Important Part Of The Diving Equipment

The snorkel is a very important part of the underwater hunting equipment. Besides enabling the hunter to breathe, this being its basic function, it is also used for blowing out the seawater.

The snorkel should therefore be very simple in shape and valveless. The mouthpiece, an essential part of the snorkel, should feel comfortable and is therefore to be made from durable and adequately soft material (silicon).

Another essential feature of the snorkel is the adequate tube flexibility.

When spearfishing for certain species of fish, better results are recorded with those hunters who remove the snorkel from their mouth.

Certain fish species are namely annoyed by the sight of the snorkel tube jutting out on the hunter's head.

Moreover, during the dive the snorkel causes vibrations as it is positioned crosswise to the direction of movement.

Some manufacturers have already produced a snorkel so flexible it can be placed under the elastic mask strap.

In this way it fits the shape of our head more tightly and does not jut out, which considerably reduces the vibrations during the dive. And last but not least, it seems to make the fish more satisfied, too. :-)
